About Me

In 1990 I left Ireland and went to Germany where I was trained in Cologne to be a Draftsman. I worked in both Belgium and Germany for a company called “Echo Beton GmbH” in the Concrete Industry as a CAD Technician for over 6 years before I went on to qualify as a Civil Engineer in early 1999.

After this, I began work with a small firm called “Ingenieur Buro Isokeit”. There we specialised in structural analysis and design. This is where I learned about the practical use of insulation and its applications for every type of building. At this time every building no matter for which use intended, would have a calculation submitted at the Planning phase on the heat loss potential of every element of the fabric of the building. Detailed Drawings were submitted of all external parts of the building showing the counter measures taken to counter the heat loss, whether it was a Town House or a Refrigeration Unit, Heat loss X Time = Money. I returned to Ireland where I gained a lot of firsthand experience working as a site engineer for O’Mahony Developments on two large developments in Glanmire and in Cobh.

In early 2008, I began working towards my goal by being a BER assessor I am now in the position to offer people alternative methods of building or upgrading their homes to an expectable and comfortable standard.

Ireland has discovered the need to increase awareness of our carbon footprint and energy waste and the cost of this will now prepare us to re-think the construction of buildings and using the materials and knowledge available to us create not just an Enviromentally Friendly House but one that is comfortable and meets the needs of a modern Irish Family, which are cheaper to maintain and have a higher resale value.

By 2020 all houses in Ireland must be carbon neutral structure but there's no reason not to achieve it today.
