How long will a ber remain valid

how-long-will.gif

bulb.jpgA BER for a building will be valid for 10 years from the date of its being issued, unless there is a material change in the building in the meantime which could affect its energy performance – for example an extension to the building, a change in legislation, a significant change to the building fabric or a change in the heating system or fuel used.

Therefore if a property which has received a BER is placed on the market within 10 years of that BER certificate being issued, and the property has experienced no relevant alteration in the meantime, then that same BER may be used by the building owner for the purposes of meeting their obligations under the Regulations.

Ireland has discovered the need to increase awareness of our carbon footprint and energy waste and the cost of this will now prepare us to re-think the construction of buildings and using the materials and knowledge available to us create not just an Enviromentally Friendly House but one that is comfortable and meets the needs of a modern Irish Family, which are cheaper to maintain and have a higher resale value.

By 2020 all houses in Ireland must be carbon neutral structure but there's no reason not to achieve it today.
